Dr. John Pijanowski is a Professor of Educational Leadership in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He has authored or co-authored more than 35 publications on educational topics. Prior to his position at the UA, he worked as a teacher, a school principal and a regional superintendent serving 21 school districts. In addition to leading numerous work-force development initiatives and grant-funded projects, Pijanowski created and launched a partnership with 31 high schools to design and deliver teacher and staff development, dual credit programming, college transition activities and more than 100 online courses for high school students. He holds a BA in education from Brown University, and both his MA and PhD in education from Cornell University.
David Rainey is the Assistant State Director, JBHM Education Group and serves on the Arkansas Rural Development Commission. Prior to serving as assistant state director, Dr. Rainey was Superintendent of the Dumas School District in Dumas, AR. In addition, he was a state representative serving the 11th district of Arkansas where he was a member of the House Education Committee. His educational background includes tenure as a Junior High School Principal, a High School Principal, a Building Administrator in Dumas Public Schools, and Director of the Arkansas School for Mathematics and Sciences. He holds a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, a Masters in Secondary School Administration from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and a Bachelors’ in History and Government from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
Vicki Saviers is a member of the Arkansas State Board of Education. She was appointed to this position by Governor Mike Beebe in January 2008. A native of Little Rock, Saviers is the founder and former Executive Director of the Public Education Foundation of Little Rock. She has been and continues to serve on several educational boards and organizations. Saviers term on the State Board will expire in 2016.
Dr. Valerie Tatum is the Superintendent of Covenant Keepers College Preparatory Charter School. In this position, she serves 200 students in grades 6-8. Prior to serving in this position, she served as both a teacher and principal. Dr. Tatum earned her BA from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, her MA from the University of Central Arkansas, and her Doctorate degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Dr. Tatum is a committee member on the Arkansas Commission on Closing the Academic Achievement Gap.
Bruce Westerman is a United States Representative serving the 4th district in Arkansas. Prior to serving in this position, he served in the Arkansas General Assembly, was President of the Fountain Lake School Board and served as the State President of the Arkansas Society of Biological and Agricultural Engineers. He holds a BS in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and an MS in Forestry from Yale University.
